BIG SUR HALF MARATHON ON MONTEREY BAY ON OCTOBER 17, 2004 ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION IS STILL AVAILABLE

(October 9, 2004 – Carmel, California) –The 2^nd Annual Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay on Sunday, October 17, 2004 has announced that it currently has 3,850 participants for the Half Marathon and 375 participants for the Run Forrest Run 5K. Registration for the Half Marathon and Run Forrest Run will be available at the Health & Fitness Expo at the Monterey Conference Center, adjacent to the Portola Plaza Hotel, on Saturday, October 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Nearly sold out for 2004, the inaugural Big Sur Half Marathon in 2003 did sell out at 4,000 runners and walkers. For 2004, runners from 41 states have registered for this “destination” event. One of the most breathtaking half marathon courses in the country, the Big Sur Half Marathon winds through historic Monterey and Pacific Grove, along Cannery Row and the scenic Pacific Grove coastline. The race ends at the Custom House Plaza, adjacent to Fisherman’s Wharf. An additional 1,000 runners will take part in the Run Forrest Run 5K, beginning and finishing on Cannery Row. There will also be a one- day Health and Fitness Expo open to the public on Saturday, October 16, 2004.
