Big Sur Half Marathon Announces Sold Out Registrations

 

 

(October 29, 2003, Carmel )  - The Big Sur Inaugural Half Marathon has sold out all of its registrations for the race on Sunday, November 16.  However, a few more spaces remain for the Bubba Gumps 5K Family Fun Run.

 

“We are absolutely thrilled with the response the Half Marathon has received,” stated Wally Kastner, Race Director.  This will enable another whole group of runners to participate in a premier running event along another very scenic course at a different time of year.”  Unlike the hills challenging walkers and runners on the 26 mile marathon course from Big Sur to Carmel, this 13.2 mile half marathon and walk will follow a flat and fast course through Monterey and along Monterey Bay through Cannery Row, then out to Asilomar and back to finish at the historic Custom House Plaza.

 

Training groups have already been formed.  Energia Body Centre, a locally owned fitness center and day spa located in the Del Monte Shopping Center, has been named the official exercise center of the Big Sur Half Marathon.  It is also conducting the only weekly training clinic for runners and walkers preparing for the race.
